It was quite a ride. Put in a delicious lunch and you can appreciate just what a special day it was. Lucky, lucky us.
This last photo was taken today on ship. It’s just to show you the result of my latest madness. I decided to colour my hair!! My first attempt turned it bright orange !!! My second the wonderful red you see here. The students think it is COOL. mMy contemporaries think I am WIERD.
SO BE IT – I’M HAPPY.
Lots of love to you all

I would very much like to meet the young woman with the short red hair. She looks as though she would bring a breath of life into the dullest gathering and even into a partially lungless, doddering octogenarian like me. Oddly enough, she reminds me of someone but I can't for the life of me think who it is. Anyway, I have decided, with her permission if you can get it for me, to print her photograph and approach people I don't know - like shop assistants, bar-tenders, dog-walkers, people like that with whom I converse casually but don't actually know - show them the photo and ask them how old they think the person in it is. I think you look about 40 but obviously I am not a good judge since I have known you most of my life. Would you mind if I do that? I wouldn't tell them who you are, of course. I think it might be extremely interesting. Anyway, the photo makes me realize how right I was in observing that you look younger with each blog. I think the red hair is absolutely magnificent. A stroke of genius. Although your red-haired photo tends to put everything else in the pale (forgive the pun) the seals, ostriches, baboons and penguins are truly superb, even though their hair (if any) is the same colour as when they were born. So, of course, is the incredible scenery. At risk of becoming even more boring than usual, your blogs are getting better as fast as your age is getting less. To ask whether you are having a good time would be quite ridiculous. Even I am having a good time on your trip and I am not even there! The only interesting thing I have to tell you is that, the temperature having risen to 27C last week, it snowed yesterday - just to show the plants, which had all been jolted into greenfusery (apologies to Dylan Thomas), that they had been right all the time. Bailey sends you a discreet semi-wuff and wants you to know that she finds your rapidly varying animal life somewhat bewildering but of interest. I am beginning to get excited about the fact that you are coming home. Alright, alright, I know its nearly another month - but its a lot less than it was when you left! Much love. David.
